A New Low

That's right--this post is entitled "A New Low." I bet you didn't think that was possible! Well, folks, I am here to tell you it most definitely is.

On Wednesday, the Language Arts teacher on my team was absent. She is NEVER absent. She is the hardest working woman on earth. She stays every night until like 6pm, she is unstoppable.

Why was she absent? Oh, well, a kid in her last period took her car keys off her desk, took the car keys to a friend/relative/hoodlum...and this guy came up to the school and stole her car.

That's right, friends. A child had his/her teacher's car stolen. Right out of the parking lot. In the afternoon. Of a school day.

It gets better.

On Wednesday while she was out, she called into the school in the afternoon to see if there were any updates. "Oh, I forgot all about it." said Principal.

Wow, thanks for your concern!

She comes in Thursday. She asks Principal to come speak to the class in which it happened. "Nah, you can handle it. It'll be fine." The 7th grade administrator asks Principal to come speak to the ENTIRE seventh grade about it. She declines this as well.

The only reason other staff members know is because we talk to each other. If you aren't in the gossip loop, you don't know. There wasn't even a "Hey, watch your stuff" memo sent out.

I mean, what kind of logic is this? "If I don't think about it, then it didn't happen"??
